Astigmatism is one of a group of eye conditions known as refractive errors. The cornea, has an irregular curvature effecting way that light rays are focused within the eye.  Most people have a little bit of astigmatism, but not enough to be visually important.  In most cases with appropriate eyeglasses or contact lenses will solve this  problem.
