Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the thin, transparent layer that lines the inner eyelid and covers the whitepart of the eye. One of the most common types is called pink eye. Conjunctivitis can be caused by viruses or bacteria and can be very contagious. Other causes include allergies, irritation from chemical pollutants, smoking, fungus, parasites, or even poor hygiene.
