Emphysema  is a chronic, irreversible lung disease that is usually caused by cigarette smoking.  Symptoms of emphysema usually begin with breathing difficulty in the morning and at night. lungs can deteriorate to the point that you become disabled.  Early symptoms of emphysema include shortness of  breath and cough. Quit Smoking.
