Huntington’s disease (HD) is a dominantly inherited disease typified by choreoathetosis, rigidity, dementia, ataxia, and ophthalmoplegia.It was first described by George Huntington in 1872. Incidence is 5-10/100,000. The disease is also known as Huntington’s chorea, Lund-Huntington’s chorea, and Setesdal jerks.The symptoms of the disease start with strange eye movements and deteriorate to include uncontrollable ("dancing") movements and decrease of mental function. The age of onset is usually 40 to 50 years but can be earlier.
