Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS for short, is a common condition that affects the digestive system.  It can affect both men and women, although there seem to be slightly more women sufferers. In countries such as the UK and US, as many as ten to 15% of the population are diagnosed with IBS, and doctors suspect that more people suffer in silence.(1)
