Osteomyelitis is an inflammation of bone caused by an infection. The infection is most often caused by a bacterium and may originate in another part of the body (i.e: an abscessed tooth, an ear infection, or a cut or open fracture) and then spread to the bone via the bloodstream. (S)  Caused by infection by such microorganisms as Staphylococcus aureus, various streptococci,
 and others types of bacteria.
