Curious! Can you grow dahlias successfully around Yarmouth?
Here in Duxbury, Mass. several hundred miles to the southwest, most summers we can grow dahlias quite well, and the northern hours of summer sun are wonderful for them. Yet here it's still a hassle during unreliable spring weather when it's time to start the plants. Wondering if, despite your more northern latitude, the ocean would still play a much more compensating role in April - May. From Yarmouth, Neptune is to your **West and Southwest** . But way over here he resides to the **East**, and isn't much help when bitter Northwest winds ruin what might be our temperate April and May.
Most of my Canadian dahlia friends are over in BC, a long country mile from both of us. Wondering how Yarmouth does is this regard. . .
Comments: Researching Dudman ancestors.
Comments: I am interested in Surette's Island and the history of the Surette and Muise families, because my grandmother was Mary Leona Muise and my grandfather was Joseph Eloi Surette. Any information that you have would be very helpful.
Comments: Though I´m living in Germany, my home is back in Yarmouth
with the rest of my family and I just wanted to say, how much I miss everything
and everyone and that I can´t wait to get back home!!!!!!!!
Comments: In 1936 I was born in a house on Parade street in Yarmouth next to the cemetery. While a baby I moved to the Village of Arcadia and lived there through the 1940s in a house on a hill overlooking the village. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone from the area. I would also like to have a picture of the old school house in Arcadia that has since been demolished.
Comments: I am just starting out to collect information on my father's
family that emigrated from Surette's Island to East Boston, Massachusetts.
I know I am a direct relative of a Jean-Baptiste Surette and Prosper Surette,
but little else. Is there anyone that might be able to help me? Thanks,
