Comments: As many of your guests have said, you have a great www. Yarmouth county has a long and interesting history. One of it's accomplishments is the development of Nova Scotia,s Provincial dog. It is curious this is not important enough to include as a seperate item on your home page. I realize it's already quite busy, and the dog is covered on the Little River site but it is an accomplishment that anyone from Yarmouth county can be proud of. In the last 15 or 20 years, these little red dogs have found homes all over the world. You can bet that many want to know about the birthplace of the breed, and will be looking on the internet for Yarmouth. They will hit your home page first. Give them an excuse to surf the rest of your site. They may not know about Little River.
I know one couple from Belgum has already visited Yarmouth specifically to visit the birthplace of their beloved Tollers. I took them out to visit Andy Wallace on the Richmond road, who hunts with these dogs.

Comments: I was delighted to find your website and revisit many fond memories of living in the Yarmouth area some 17 yrs ago. My children were especially excited to see the photo of the 10 little "A-Frames" in Milton Highlands as I had told them that "A-Frame" #3 was where my husband and I lived for  2 yrs shortly after we were married. (He was employed with the East Kemptville Tin Mine, and I worked Cameron's Irving station, and later, at Tim Horton's. Hi! Dave and Liz!

Comments: I am submitting this from the OVERTON site. I spent the first 25 years of my life there.
There is a reference on this site stating that the name Overton comes from the fact that this village is "over-from the-town". I have seen this reference many times before, but I would like to see the evidence that it is correct. Personally, I believe it is UNLIKELY to be true. Overton is a family name, like Churchill, Doucette or Bain. In the early days of Yarmouth county there was a British General stationed in Halifax by the name of George Overton. It's more likely that the village of Overton got it's name from him or some other Overton family member. I have made this public challange before, but it always seems to fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. I would think some knowledgeable Yarmouth history student would find it fun to present the evidence to prove me right or wrong.

Until that day comes I will cringe every time I see the reference to Overton as over-from-the-town. I guess that name must have given someone "from Town" a greater sense of importance or something when that term was coined.

Met a lot of great people. The Mill manager was Donald M. Cain, his brother Hugh also worked there. The head of the electrical group there was Hubert Cunningham. I have many pleasant memories and some 8mm movies which I hope to have transferred to CD's.

Comments: I am coming to Yarmouth tomorrow, 8/25/04 and hoping to find some relatives of the Bourque and/or Saulnier families.  My grandfather was Dennis Saulnier, my grandmother was Celeste (Sara Celestine) Bourque.  My grandmother left for Lynn, Mass. as a young girl and brought her sisters, but her brothers remained their entire life in Yarmouth.  They are (were) Joseph Alcide (married to Cora Penney, Jean Louis, (married to Agnes Moulaison),Clarence (married to Mary Deveau), and Kenneth, who never married.  I'm leaving this noontime, but if anyone out there knows of anyone in this family I would appreciate an answer.
When I arrive in Yarmouth on 8/26 I'll be staying at the Best Western.  I would appreciate any info.
Thanks in advance!!!

Denise

It's good to be saved from the judgment bar of God for sin(s) and to know of a surety that one hundred years from now, most of us at least who have been blood bought, will have been in heaven for a long bit.

The Lord bless thee & keep thee
